WhatsApp hack on politician revealed, amid onslaught of attempted cyber attacks
A foreign state actor hacked a parliamentarian's WhatsApp account in March through phishing, compromising the official's and three staffers' accounts. The Department of Parliamentary Services temporarily blocked desktop WhatsApp access to Parliament House in response. The department detected 46 malware cases and approximately 20,000 phishing attempts targeting parliamentarians this financial.
