Drivers will get bigger tax deductions for car expenses from July
Australia's Tax Office raised the work-related car deduction rate to 91 cents per kilometre from July, up from 88 cents, providing relief for business drivers facing higher fuel costs. The increase, effective for the 2026-27 financial year, includes a 2-cent uplift to account for global fuel price shocks. Sole traders and partnerships can claim up to 5,000 business kilometres annually.
