Free RSV vaccine program cuts infant hospitalizations nearly in half
A free RSV vaccine program for pregnant women has cut infant hospitalizations by nearly half across 13 Australian hospitals since its introduction last year. Dr. Ushma Wadia from Kids Research Institute Australia found 80 percent of babies born to vaccinated mothers avoided hospitalization. RSV, the leading cause of baby hospitalization, affects approximately 12,000 infants annually in Australia.
