Don’t fuel war inflation: IMF warns Chalmers as recession risks grow

Treasurer Jim Chalmers was cautioned by the International Monetary Fund not to issue budget handouts amid inflation fueled by the Iran war. The IMF downgraded global growth forecasts to 3.1 percent for this year, warning that continued conflict could push growth down to 2 percent and inflation above 6 percent. Australia’s inflation is projected at 3.9 percent.
