Two Marine Rescue volunteers die as rescue boat capsizes off NSW coast
A Marine Rescue NSW vessel capsized while responding to a distressed yacht off South Ballina on Tuesday evening, killing two volunteers. Bill Ewen, 78, and Frank Petsch, 62, died when the 10-metre rescue boat BA30 overturned in 2.5-metre swells. Three other crew members remain hospitalized. The yacht's occupant also died. The incident marks the darkest night in the organization's history.
