Snow falls on coldest day of the year in Melbourne
Snow fell across Victoria on Thursday, the coldest day of the year so far, as a Southern Ocean cold front swept southeastern Australia. The Bureau of Meteorology recorded several centimetres blanketing alpine resorts, with snow expected at elevations above 600 metres. Melbourne's top temperature reached just 14 degrees, with conditions expected to warm significantly by Friday.
