Oil traders are too optimistic about a Trump ‘victory’ in Iran
Oil prices tumbled as U.S.-Iran negotiations appeared closer to a deal, with Brent crude dropping from $104 to $96 a barrel. Traders may be overly optimistic, however, given Trump's inconsistent statements and past false claims of victory. Even if a Strait of Hormuz reopening occurs, clearing mines and restoring normal tanker traffic could take months.
