Retired US Air Force captain Brian Udell ejected from his F-15 fighter jet at supersonic speed in 1995, escaping with just a third of a second to spare. He described the intense forces of up to 20 Gs experienced during the ejection, which can cause severe spinal injuries. His weapons systems officer did not survive the ordeal.
