St Andrews Golf Club appoints first woman captain in 272 years
The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews appointed amateur player Claire Dowling as its first woman captain in 272 years, effective September. Dowling, a Dublin-born golfer who represented Great Britain and Ireland in four Curtis Cups, will lead the club during the 2027 Open Championship. The Scottish club opened membership to women in 2014.
