At least 30 people died in a stampede at the Laferriere Citadel in northern Haiti on Saturday. Jean Henri Petit, head of Civil Protection, warned that the death toll could rise as many young attendees were present during the UNESCO World Heritage site’s annual celebration. Rain aggravated the situation at the entrance of the popular tourist attraction.
