UAE's ruling Al Nahyan family collected more than €71 million in European Union farming subsidies over six years through subsidiaries controlling farmland in Romania, Italy and Spain. The second-richest family globally used companies including Romanian agricultural firm Agricost, which operates the EU's largest single farm at 57,000 hectares and received €10.5 million in 2024 alone.
