US charges anti-extremism organisation over payments to informants in hate groups
US officials charged the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) with fraud on Tuesday for allegedly paying informants within hate groups. The indictment includes six counts of wire fraud and claims the SPLC funneled over $3 million to individuals associated with extremist organizations. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated the organization manufactured the extremism it claimed to oppose.
