'Accident' helps identify giant 'shark-toothed' dinosaur's skull fragment
Scientists identified long-missing skull fragments of Siamraptor suwati, a giant predatory dinosaur discovered in Thailand, through accidental placement of fossils in 2023. The braincase and partial skull roof were recovered from north-eastern Thailand by the Japan-Thailand Dinosaur Project. At approximately 120 million years old, Siamraptor fills an evolutionary gap between smaller Allosaurus and gigantic Carcharodontosaurus species.
