Labor forces LNG exporters to reserve 25 percent gas for domestic market

Australia's Labor government will reveal terms of its first east coast gas reservation policy forcing LNG exporters to hold back up to 25 percent of production for domestic use. Energy Minister Chris Bowen championed the measure to lower local gas prices, which surged from $4 to $12 per gigajoule since exports began in 2015.
