The winners and losers of Sydney’s new selective school gender quotas
NSW will introduce gender quotas at selective schools from 2027, reducing boys' places by approximately 1000 over six years while adding 180 spots at Sydney Girls High School. The shift addresses longstanding underrepresentation of girls, who comprised just 42 percent of selective students last year compared to 58 percent boys. Co-ed schools will allocate equal places to each gender.
