Hilton Converts Sydney's 1970s Bank Building Into Retro Hotel Late 2027
Sydney's former Bank of China headquarters, a 1970s building opposite Wynyard Park, is being converted into Motto by Hilton Australia, opening late 2027. Architects Bates Smart will retain the structure while embracing the era's aesthetic with wall carpeting, checkerboard tiles, and Panton chairs. The adaptive reuse saves 72 percent of embodied carbon compared to demolition and new construction.
