After football, Daniher’s spirit shone in the fight of his life

Neale Daniher, Essendon's youngest captain and Melbourne coach who led the Demons to the 2000 grand final, died May 25 at 65. Diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2014, Daniher co-founded FightMND and launched the annual Big Freeze fundraiser, ultimately making his advocacy work surpass his football achievements. He was named 2019 Victorian.
