Adoptees testify in inquiry into failed Australian-South Korean adoption program
Australian-South Korean adoptees will testify in a new inquiry into alleged failures in the adoption program between the countries from 1964 to 1999. Retired magistrate Robert Cook will lead the investigation, which follows South Korea's 2023 finding of widespread fraud and falsified paperwork. Australia's probe will examine whether government processes contributed to illegal practices in some 3,600 adoptions.
