Powering the cloud: Victoria’s $16 billion bill for the energy network
Victoria's electricity regulator approved a $16 billion network spending plan Thursday as data centre demand surges. The Australian Energy Regulator expects household bills will not rise significantly because costs will be spread across new customers, including data centres, over five years. Electricity consumption in Melbourne's north-west is projected to increase over 112 percent by 2030-31.
