Deep burial: Are your batteries really being recycled?
Australia's largest battery recycler, Ecocycle, faces accusations from former employees of dumping or burning millions of batteries instead of recycling them through the national B-Cycle scheme. The Battery Stewardship Council cannot verify what happened to 10,000 tonnes collected and launched an investigation. Ecocycle denies wrongdoing, claiming all batteries are properly processed at its Melbourne facility.
