Australian universities double ideal tutorial sizes, harming student engagement
More than half of Australian university tutorials now exceed 30 students, double the ideal size of 10-19, according to a survey of 4,000 staff by the National Tertiary Education Union. Seventy-eight percent of respondents reported worsening student engagement and learning outcomes since 2019.
