‘Vanity project’: Queensland sues Twiggy Forrest to recoup $66m grant
Queensland has sued Fortescue Metals Group to recoup A$65.97 million granted for a failed green hydrogen plant in Gladstone, which operated for just seven weeks. Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie called the project a "vanity project" after negotiations with Andrew Forrest's company stalled. The facility cost taxpayers an estimated A$14 million weekly to operate before closure.
