New South Wales powers transport with 100% renewable energy by 2027
New South Wales will power its electric buses, trains, and light rail entirely with renewable energy from 2027 under a $1.9 billion deal with Snowy Energy. Transport Minister John Graham stated the initiative aims to cut costs and significantly reduce emissions, avoiding over 800,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. The contract will last seven years, until 2034.
