Scrapped anti-whaling ship bought for $10 makes conservation comeback
The retired anti-whaling vessel MV Steve Irwin departed Newcastle Harbour for a conservation comeback on November 1. Skipper Kerrie Goodall invested over 4,000 hours restoring the ship, which has a history of saving more than 6,000 whales. It will soon participate in marine campaigns along Australia's east coast, promoting ocean conservation efforts.
