Budget squeeze forces integrity agencies to shelve investigations
Victoria's anti-corruption agency and ombudsman warned Tuesday that budget cuts will force investigation delays and leave public sector misconduct unchecked. IBAC faces a $6 million deficit and will cut staff despite holding over 1000 unassessed complaints. Ombudsman Marlo Baragwanath said her agency is $1.2 million short and called for independent budget-setting for integrity agencies.
