Jockey Braidon Small wins Grand Annual Steeplechase after brain cancer recovery
Jockey Braidon Small won the Grand Annual Steeplechase at Warrnambool on Thursday aboard Instigator, claiming an emotional victory after recovering from brain cancer surgery and treatment. The 5500-meter race over 33 jumps saw Instigator prevail by a half-head from Hit The Road Jack. Small, who hadn't won in nearly three years, credited his trainer Aaron Purcell's faith in the gelding.
