Whittlesea Council finds 1302 road defects across state-owned roads
Melbourne's City of Whittlesea identified 1302 road defects across 206 kilometers of state-owned roads, blaming the Department of Transport for deteriorating conditions. Mayor Lawrie Cox called the situation "nothing short of a disgrace," noting maintenance frequency dropped from every eight weeks to every six months after the department switched contractors three years.
