Drivers will get bigger tax deductions for car expenses from July
Australia's tax office raised the car expense deduction rate to 91 cents per kilometre from July, up from 88 cents. The increase, effective for the 2026-27 financial year, includes a two-cent uplift to account for fuel price volatility. The rate applies to sole traders and partnerships claiming up to 5,000 business kilometres annually.
