Much-loved jockey Shane McGovern undergoes second leg amputation in ‘devastating’ update
Queensland jockey Shane McGovern, 67, underwent his second leg amputation Wednesday at Townsville Hospital, three weeks after a freak accident at his stables. His right leg was removed two weeks after surgeons amputated his left leg below the knee following a horse collapse that trapped him for six hours.
