Child sex offender resigns as Melbourne Karen Buddhist group president
San Maung Saw Wah, a 73-year-old convicted child sex offender, has resigned as president of the Melbourne Karen Buddhist Association after his criminal past was revealed. Saw Wah was convicted in 2015 of sexually assaulting a child and was incorrectly told he did not require a Working With Children Check. The association is now reviewing its child safety protocols.
