Australia raises overseas travel tax to $80 per person from January 2027
Australia's government raised the passenger movement charge on international air and cruise departures from $70 to $80 per person in the federal budget, effective January 2027. Tourism and Transport Forum CEO Margy Osmond called the increase a "major blow," saying a family of four will pay $320 extra in tax. The industry was not consulted before the announcement.
