WA Minister labels City of Perth issues as Zempilas’ ‘legacy’
Western Australia's Member for Perth John Carey blamed former Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas for ongoing dysfunction at the City of Perth, saying leadership change is needed before any council amalgamation can proceed. A state government investigation into complaints about the council's chief executive Michelle Reynolds prompted Local Government Minister Hannah Beazley to declare amalgamations are back on the table.
