The US now has a high-speed train that sets a new standard
Amtrak introduced NextGen Acela high-speed trains on the Northeast Corridor in 2025, reaching speeds of 257.5 km/h between Boston and Washington DC. The service cuts travel time between New York and Philadelphia to one hour ten minutes with a dozen daily departures. Five trainsets now offer premium seating, fast Wi-Fi and improved amenities across the corridor.
