Scientists detect giant squid and 226 species in deep Western Australian waters
Scientists using environmental DNA detected giant squid and 226 other species in submarine canyons off Western Australia's Ningaloo Coast. The WA Museum expedition surveyed depths exceeding 4500 metres, discovering dozens of species previously unrecorded in WA waters. The giant squid finding marks the first eDNA detection off the coast in over 25 years.
