After football, Daniher’s spirit shone in the fight of his life
Neale Daniher, Essendon's youngest-ever captain and Melbourne coach who led the Demons to the 2000 Grand Final, died May 25 at age 65. Diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2014, he co-founded FightMND and dedicated his final decade to fundraising for the terminal illness. His advocacy work ultimately surpassed his football achievements.
