Aboriginal activist completes 500km walk to demand national truth-telling process
Travis Lovett completed a 38-day, 500-kilometre walk to Parliament House on Tuesday, presenting Prime Minister Anthony Albanese a kangaroo skin inscribed with a plea for national truth-telling. The Kerrupmara Gunditjmara man arrived 59 years after the 1967 referendum granted Aboriginal Australians citizenship rights. The government has committed only $5.8 million toward a Makarrata commission instead of a formal truth-telling process.
