Internal displacements caused by violence or conflict at record high in 2025
Conflict-driven internal displacements surged to a record 32.3 million in 2025, exceeding disaster-driven displacements for the first time since tracking began in 2008. The figure represents a 60% increase from 2024, with Iran and the Democratic Republic of Congo accounting for two-thirds of all conflict-driven movements. Total global displacement reached 82.2 million people, the second-highest on record.
