Family’s bid to upgrade Queensland war hero to Victoria Cross
The descendants of Warrant Officer Stanley Walsh have applied to upgrade his Distinguished Conduct Medal to a Victoria Cross. Walsh, who served in World War II and died in 1998, famously saved a wounded soldier under enemy fire. His father, Richard, also received the DCM, making them Australia's only father-son pair to earn the honor.
