London startup to trial drug to prevent cancer therapy side-effect ‘cytokine storm’
London-based Poolbeg Pharma began a trial on POLB 001, an oral drug aimed at preventing cytokine release syndrome in cancer patients, at six NHS hospitals. The trial, involving 30 participants receiving treatment with Johnson & Johnson's teclistamab, could allow outpatient care and reduce costs significantly for the NHS. Interim trial data is expected by summer's.
