Blue Mountains highway avoids worst-case scenario for fix

The Great Western Highway at Victoria Pass in the Blue Mountains will be repairable following serious cracking, avoiding a costly alternative route. Roads Minister Jenny Aitchison stated that geotechnical testing confirmed the underlying bedrock was strong, allowing for a quicker repair process. However, the highway has been closed since March 12, impacting up to 12,000 vehicles daily.
