Labor forces gas exporters to reserve quarter of new supply domestically
Australia's Labor government revealed terms of its first east coast gas reservation policy on Thursday, forcing exporters to hold back up to 25 percent of new supply for domestic users. Energy Minister Chris Bowen said the policy aims to lower local gas prices and ensure adequate supply for manufacturing.
