Mark Williams takes Hawthorn AFLW development role in first women's football position
Hawthorn appointed AFL premiership coach Mark Williams to lead their AFLW development program on Thursday, marking his first role in women's football. The 67-year-old spent five seasons at Melbourne as head of development before the move. Williams, who coached Port Adelaide to the 2004 flag and played 286 games, was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2023.
