Chalmers budget targets household relief amid slowing growth and inflation pressures
Treasurer Jim Chalmers unveiled a federal budget Friday aimed at cushioning households from economic headwinds, including higher food and energy prices triggered by the Iran war. Treasury forecasts economic growth will slow to 1.75 percent next fiscal year from 2.25 percent, while wages will lag inflation at 3.25 percent.
