WA junior doctors leaving the profession due to burnout: report

West Australian junior doctors are leaving medicine due to burnout, with 56 percent reporting moderate-to-high burnout levels, up 4 percent year-over-year, according to an Australian Medical Association survey released Tuesday. The study of 1,300 junior doctors found inadequate training opportunities, job insecurity, and insufficient support driving departures. AMA WA president Dr Kyle Hoath warned that understaffing during winter is unacceptable.
