Coles loses credibility with less-than-meets-the-eye discounts
Australia's second-largest supermarket Coles lost a Federal Court case over misleading discounts in its "Down Down" program. Justice Michael O'Bryan found 13 of 14 sample product labels were misleading because discounts compared inflated prices held for four weeks or less. The ACCC alleged Coles misled customers on 245 products between February 2022 and May 2023.
