‘Like owning a Rolex’: Melbourne prison cell up for auction
For the person who has everything — and doesn’t suffer from claustrophobia — a former Pentridge Prison cell is up for sale. The decommissioned and renovated Melbourne jail, officially known as Her Majesty’s Prison Pentridge, once housed some of Australia’s most infamous inmates including Ned Kelly, Mark “Chopper” Read and Ronald Ryan, the last man executed in the country.
