Albanese insists broken negative gearing promise will benefit nation
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese conceded Tuesday he broke an election promise on negative gearing but insisted the reform will boost home ownership by directing investment toward newly built properties from July 2027. The Coalition vowed to fight the changes, with Opposition Leader Angus Taylor warning Treasury's own budget papers show 35,000 fewer homes will be built over ten years.
