Record fuel costs do little to deter big car buyers
Australian sales of large utility vehicles remained resilient in March and April despite fuel prices peaking at 224.5 cents per litre for petrol. Four-by-four ute sales declined to 13,251 units, yet electric vehicles surged to capture 16 per cent market share. NRMA spokesman Peter Khoury attributed the shift to consumer confidence concerns rather than fuel costs alone.
