The quest to find Sydney’s phantom love tunnel
Researchers exploring beneath Sydney's Conservatorium of Music hunted for a legendary secret tunnel allegedly used by federation founder Sir Henry Parkes to meet a mistress. Instead they discovered The Void, a six to eighteen-meter underground drainage ditch protecting the heritage castle from a newer wing. City historian Laila Ellmoos found no archival evidence supporting the tunnel's existence.
