Peter Murrell pleads guilty to embezzling £400,000 from SNP
Peter Murrell, former Scottish National Party chief executive and ex-husband of Nicola Sturgeon, pleaded guilty Monday to embezzling £400,310.65 from the party. The High Court in Edinburgh heard Murrell admitted reduced charges after prosecutors dropped nearly £60,000 in alleged theft. Judge Lord Young said Murrell committed a "gross breach of trust" and remanded him in custody pending sentencing June 2.
